Phase 2: slower than I planned, but the book is done
The SIE prep book is done. As of October 24, I have logged 43.8 hours and 33 practice exams, and Achievable puts my exam readiness at 86%.
I finished the SIE prep book on October 22. It took longer than I planned, but I feel good about the progress. I still have the exam ahead of me, so this weekend is for reviewing formulas, memorizing key facts, and taking practice exams.
The SIE is FINRA’s entry-level exam, and it is the part of my plan that ends in a pass or a fail instead of something I build.
Where I was on October 14
I had given this phase 60 hours. Since September 27, I had put in just under 24 and reached page 66 of a 150-page book.
October 7, 8, and 9 were supposed to be study days. I put in ten minutes, then one minute, then two. Three days in a row where I opened the app, answered a few questions, and closed it. I wanted to be further along than that.
The practice tests were going better. I had finished 24 of them. My first fourteen, all in the last days of September, included three I failed and two I barely passed. Every test from October 1 through that update was a pass, most in the 90s, and my first midterm came back at 93%.
The book is done
By October 22, I had finished the remaining material. As of October 24, my Achievable transcript shows 43.8 hours studied, 33 practice exams, and 100% of the textbook completed. My best practice score is 100%.

Achievable now puts my exam readiness at 86%, up from 60% on October 23. That is encouraging, but I still have the actual exam ahead of me. I am spending this weekend reviewing the formulas and facts I need to recall without looking them up, along with taking more practice exams.
On October 26, I plan to start Phase 3: DCF modeling and corporate finance. Those courses are shorter, so I expect to move through them more quickly while keeping up with SIE review.
